Good-bye September!  What an amazing stretch of weather to end the month & welcome October.  Time to store the golden light and warmth in preparation for the short days ahead.

Roasted Beet Borscht…beets are at their best right now- freshly dug & sweet.  This soup tastes wonderful either hot or chilled.  Ingredients:  Olive oil, garlic, beets, carrots, onions, veggie stock, fresh thyme, honey, lemon juice, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. fresh dill & sour cream.  Vegan (minus sour cream garnish), Vegetarian & Gluten Free.  13.  per quart served w. bread.

Greek Orzo, Lemon & Chicken Soup…yum!  Ingredients:  chicken stock, orzo, eggs, lemon juice and zest, chicken, spinach, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. fresh dill.  13. per quart served w. bread

Sweet Treat: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies / Specify w. or w. out walnuts.  1. per cookie

Soups & Sweet Treat 9.26.13

Happy Fall!  The last soups for September are….

Hamburger Soup…a recipe passed down from my Grandma- popular with kids and adults!  Ingredients:  olive oil, onions, garlic, carrots, celery, barley, tomatoes, chicken stock, ketchup, oregano, basil, parsley, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished with fresh parm.  13.  per quart served with bread.

Spicy Chickpea and Butternut Squash Soup…this soup is sooooo good!  Mildly spicy, sweet & sour- full of flavor!  Ingredients:  olive oil, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, butternut squash, tomatoes, chickpeas, veggie stock, tomato juice, soy sauce, lime juice, ginger, coriander, brown sugar, jalapeno, coconut milk, kosher salt, pepper & fresh cilantro.  13. per quart served with bread.  Vegetarian, Vegan & Gluten Free

Soups & Sweet Treat 9.19.13

And the soups are….

Cheddar-Corn Chowder w. Bacon & Scallions…the perfect time of year for chowder!  Fresh local corn & potatoes, lots of sharp cheddar & salty bacon- yum, yum!  Ingredients:  bacon, onions, carrots, celery, yukon golds, chicken stock, coriander, corn, sharp cheddar, whole milk, worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, pepper, scallions & fresh parsley.  Gluten-free  13. per quart served with bread.

Black-Eyed Pea & Kale Chili…fresh kale abounds right now and adds a wonderful, earthy flavor to this smoky chili!  Ingredients:  olive oil, onions, celery, garlic, tomatoes, black-eyed peas, veggie stock, chipotle in adobo, cumin, coriander, honey, dijon mustard, kale, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. optional monterey jack cheese.  Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Vegan (minus cheese garnish)  13. per quart served w. bread  (if you like less spice let me know- I can adjust!)

Soups & Sweet 9.12.13

It was wonderful reconnecting with many of you last week!  What a perfect evening it was for the return of soup!  This Thursday looks to be a transition day- classic battle between late summer heat & humidity and early fall crispness.  Order a quart or two for dinner or lunch over the weekend! 

Thai Chicken w. Ginger & Coconut… full of flavor and a fave of many!  Ingredients:  canola oil, chicken, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, shallots, tomatoes, potatoes, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, scallions, thai curry paste, scallions, kosher salt, pepper, cilantro.  13. per quart served with bread.  Gluten-Free

Butternut Squash w. Parmesan…creamy and filling, YUM!  Ingredients:  butter, olive oil, onions, celery, veggie stock, parmesan cheese, butternut squash, sage, kosher salt, pepper, pinch of nutmeg & pinch of cayenne.  Garnished with fresh parsley and croutons.  13. per quart served with bread.  Vegetarian, Gluten-Free (minus crouton garnish)
