Soups & Sweet Treat 10.5.13

Good-bye September!  What an amazing stretch of weather to end the month & welcome October.  Time to store the golden light and warmth in preparation for the short days ahead.

Roasted Beet Borscht…beets are at their best right now- freshly dug & sweet.  This soup tastes wonderful either hot or chilled.  Ingredients:  Olive oil, garlic, beets, carrots, onions, veggie stock, fresh thyme, honey, lemon juice, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. fresh dill & sour cream.  Vegan (minus sour cream garnish), Vegetarian & Gluten Free.  13.  per quart served w. bread.

Greek Orzo, Lemon & Chicken Soup…yum!  Ingredients:  chicken stock, orzo, eggs, lemon juice and zest, chicken, spinach, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. fresh dill.  13. per quart served w. bread

Sweet Treat: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies / Specify w. or w. out walnuts.  1. per cookie
