It feels and smells like spring this morning- but by Thursday it will again be November- damp, cold & dark.  Order some soup to warm the soul!

This will be the last Thursday soup until December.  Have a great Thanksgiving!

Eggplant Parmesan Soup…this is a wonderful soup, even confirmed eggplants haters like it!  Ingredients:  eggplant, olive oil, garlic, onions, celery, stewed tomatoes, tomato juice, water, oregano, basil, croutons, parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. croutons.  Vegetarian, can be Vegan is specified.  I will jar your soup prior to the addition of the cheese!  13. per quart served w. bread

Italian Wedding Ball Soup…this is another favorite of mine!  Ingredients:  olive oil, carrots, celery, onions, garlic, chicken broth, spinach, basil, Meatballs (local ground turkey, garlic, parsley, basil, parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, egg), baby pasta, kosher salt & pepper.  13. per quart served w. bread

Soups & Sweet Treat 11.14.13

One of the many things I love about soup is the almost endless combination of ingredients.  The veggie soup this week is a perfect example of this.  It is a recipe from Melissa Clark, a food columnist for the New York Times, and combines simple ingredients which result in an amazingly lush, tasty soup. 

Lemony Carrot & Cauliflower Soup: Coriander seeds, olive oil, onions, garlic, carrots, white miso, cauliflower, lemon zest, lemon juice, pinch of smoky powder, kosher salt, pepper & fresh cilantro.  (this is a creamy soup). 13. per quart served w. bread.  Vegan, Vegetarian & Gluten-Free (minus bread).

Beef & Wild Rice Soup w. Winter Veggies- a hearty soup for fall.  Ingredients: canola oil, beef chuck (cubed), onions, garlic, red wine, chicken broth, butternut squash, turnip, wild rice, tomato paste, thyme, bay leaf, fresh parsley, kosher salt & pepper.  13. per quart served w. bread.  Gluten-Free

Sweet Treat: Bananna Cupcakes w. Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting 2. per cupcake

Soups & Sweet Treat 11.7.13

Brrrr….it’s cold & all of a sudden the days have gotten A LOT shorter!  It happens every year, yet it is always a bit of a shock.  Warm up and fuel your body with a quart or two of soup this Thursday night!


Mushroom Lentil Soup- brown lentils, a variety of mushrooms, and veggies topped w. a crunchy mix of scallions, parsley and thyme.  Ingredients:  olive oil, garlic, onion, celery, carrots, mixed mushrooms, lentils, white wine, veggie stock, bay leaves, fresh thyme, parsley, scallions, kosher salt & pepper.  13. per quart served w. bread.  Vegetarian, Vegan & Gluten-Free (minus bread)

Classic Chicken Noodle- rich from scratch chicken stock with cubed chicken, egg noodles, carrots & celery.  Ingredients:  chicken stock, onions, garlic, carrots, celery, chicken, egg noodles, kosher salt, pepper & fresh parsley.  13. per quart served w. bread

Sweet Treat:  Apple Cake w. nuts OR w. chocolate chips 2. per slice
