Soups & Sweet Treat 9.29.16

Fall arrived a day late!  What an absolutely beautiful weekend!  Apple picking, indoor fire, outdoor fire, mums, sunshine and perfect temps- I love this time of year!!

For the last soup Thursday in September I am going to take advantage of the last of the local late summer veggies.

Harvest Tortilla Soup…a fancy word for ramped up veggie chili!  Ingredients:  canola oil, onions, garlic, rainbow peppers, corn, zucchini, tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, black beans, kosher salt, pepper, lime juice, fresh cilantro.  Garnished w. tortillas strips, sour cream & cheddar cheese.  13. per quart w. bread.  Vegetarian, Vegan (minus dairy garnishes) & Gluten-Free

Eggplant Parmesan Soup…Yum!  Those of you who have been ordering soup for years know that this is one of my favorites!  Pureed goodness kind of like the best tomato soup you have ever had!  Ingredients:  eggplant, olive oil, garlic, onions, celery, stewed tomatoes, tomato juice, oregano, basil, croutons, parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnishes w. additional Parmesan.  13. per quart w. bread.  Vegetarian, Vegan (minus the parm- it is still delish!).

Something New Coming Soon…

For the past 7 years I have cooking meals on Tuesdays (in addition to Thursday soup).  This service includes an entrée along with side dishes- the meals are cooked and delivered for immediate consumption.  In order to these services I will now be offering bi-monthly freezer meals!

Days are long and busy, often when dinner comes along we do not want to cook, do not want take-out, and have had our fill of Trader Joe’s frozen entrees!  This is where freezer meals come in.  Twice a month I will offer a few different entrees- think lasagna, enchiladas, veggie & grain gratins, chicken parm, shepherd’s pie- you order, I freeze and deliver!  When those long busy days arrive you can feel comforted that you have a home-made meal waiting to be re-heated.

If this interest you let me know!  I will send you an email prior to freezer meal day.  Choose which one(s) you want and I will shop, cook, freeze and deliver!

I am looking forward to starting this new service!

A few reminders:

Leave empty jars out with your coolers.

It is still warm (to warm!) outside.  Ice in the cooler is a must if you will not be home shortly after delivery.

Thai Chicken…Yum!  Coconut milk, lime, red Thai Curry…Ingredients:  Canola oil, chicken, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, sugar, Thai Red Curry, shallots, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, scallions, cilantro, kosher salt & pepper.  13. per quart served w. bread  Gluten Free

 

Roasted Beet Borscht…a vegetarian version of Borscht made with local beets.  Delicious served chilled or heated!  Ingredients:  Beets, olive oil, thyme, onions, carrots, garlic, honey, red wine vinegar, fresh dill, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. Sour Cream.  Vegetarian, Vegan (minus sour cream) Gluten-Free.  13. per quart served w. bread

Soups & Sweet Treat 9.15.16

Soups and Sweet Treat are back!!!  I can’t wait to get the soup pots down.  Late summer produce is at its peak- both soups this week will feature this bounty.

Reminder: Soup cards available.  60 for a 5 punch card…120 for a 10 punch card.  If you have jars from last season please leave them out with your cooler.  It is still warm out, remember to leave some form of ice in your cooler!

Corn & Roasted Red Pepper Chowder…this is a pretty chowder due to the pureed roasted red peppers!  Ingredients:  canola oil, onions, celery, carrots, garlic, yukon gold potatoes, veggie stock, coriander, bay leaves, corn, roasted red peppers, OPTIONAL light cream, fresh cilantro, kosher salt & pepper.  Vegetarian, Gluten Free & Vegan if SPECIFIED.  13. per quart w. bread

Italian Sausage Zucchini Soup…super flavorful both with crumbled local sweet Italian sausage, tons of veggies and fresh herbs.  Ingredients:  olive oil, sweet Italian sausage, onions, garlic, tomatoes, celery, green peppers, zucchini, fresh basil, fresh oregano, parsley, kosher salt & pepper.  Gluten Free, 13. per quart w. bread & garnished with parm.
