What a beautiful weekend!  It is amazing how blue the sky was and how warm the mid March sun is!  The calendar now says spring- but the weather this week will still feel like winter.  Classic comfort soups are in the offering!

Country Split Pea…customized for those who eat meat and those who don’t! Ingredients: canola oil, onions, celery, carrots, garlic, green split peas, fresh thyme, bay leaves, veggie stock, yukon gold potatoes, kosher salt & pepper.  Optional HAM.  13. per quart served w. bread.  Vegetarian & Vegan W.OUT HAM, Gluten-Free

Hamburger Soup…a take on beef and barley- made w. local ground turkey.  Comforting and popular w. kids and grown ups!  Ingredients: carrots, celery, onions, garlic, ground turkey, tomatoes, barley, dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, bit of ketchup (strange but it is the magic ingredient), kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. Parm. 13. per quart served w. bread.

Soups & Sweet Treat 3.16.17

Snow is on the way BUT there WILL be soup as usual on Thursday!!  Stay safe and have fun!

Coconut Curry Noodle Soup w. CHICKEN OR TOFU…this soup is ALL about the broth.  Good enough to slurp by itself!  Ingredients: canola oil, onions, ginger, lemon grass, Thai red curry paste, paprika, tumeric, coconut milk, veggie stock, fish sauce, sugar, kaffir lime leaves, thin rice noodles, sweet potatoes, chicken or tofu, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. cilantro, bean sprouts, scallions & lime.  13. per quart served w. bread.  Vegetarian & Vegan (w. tofu & minus fish sauce), Gluten-Free

Cheddar-Corn Chowder …classic corn chowder…Ingredients: onions, carrots, bacon, celery, garlic, potatoes, coriander, chicken stock, light cream, cheddar cheese, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. bacon.  13.per quart served w. bread.  Gluten-Free

Soups & Sweet Treat 3.9.17

I was off last week (and today and tomorrow) with my girls for their winter break.  I think we experienced all four seasons during that week!  Summer- bare feet, ice cream and raking the garden beds, spring- mud season, rain and thunderstorms! & winter- so cold I don’t think we left the house on Saturday.  We had lots of fun spending time with friends and family, painting, and cooking!  My girls and I made Samosas last Monday- not as good as the Samosa Man’s, but pretty close.  I am ready to take the soup pots down and get back into the swing of things!

Eggplant Parmesan Soup…by far one of my most popular soups.  Ingredients: roasted eggplant, olive oil, garlic, onions, celery, stewed tomatoes, tomato juice, oregano, basil, garlic croutons, Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. extra Parmesan.  13. per quart, served w. bread.  Vegetarian.

White Chicken Chili…creamy and full of flavor, mildly spicy & tangy from fresh lime juice.  – YUM! Ingredients: white beans, canola oil, jalapeno peppers, poblano peppers, onions, garlic, cumin, coriander, ancho chili powder, chicken stock, poached chicken breasts, fresh lime juice, cilantro, kosher salt & pepper.  Garnished w. tortilla chips & sour cream.  13. per quart served w. bread.  Gluten-Free

Sweet Treat: Brownies w. or w. out nuts.  2. each
